Part of a group of negatives taken for September 11, 1960, Arkansas Gazette article "Van Buren: Colorful Past -- Hopeful Future," 1E:1. The Crawford County Courthouse in Van Buren, Arkansas. The courthouse was once a passing by point for the Butterfield Overland Stage Line route. Includes a marker for the Butterfield line that reads, "The Butterfield Stage Route. The Butterfield Stage Route between Saint Louis and San Francisco passed through the main street of Van Buren, Arkansas and crossed the river at this point. Erected by the Mary Fuller Percival Chapter DAR."
